Your New Site
You’d like a website, or an improvement on the one you have, but it’s scary. I agree. What do you do when you can’t understand what the designer is saying? Forget about a conversation with the code guy. Have I turned into my parents? Am I the person who now needs someone under 20 to stop the Blinking 12:00 on my VCR?
Familiar? That was me, a few years ago. I worked at a web development firm as the business manager. I was the oldest person there. A ripe old 38. The guys to their credit tried to explain it all to me. In tech terms. And being the only woman, and the oldest, it was intimidating to say “huh????” So now, a few years on, I work for another small company, but I have remembered how brave I thought the developers were. If they couldn’t figure something out, they looked on the internet, and copied what someone else did! No fear! So, that’s where I started and have since figured out a few things about the internet. Like, how to translate the language. How to explain what might seem intuitive to some, in a way that anyone can understand. Hence the “Blinking 12:00”.
Professional, Mommy, Web Interpreter
I have been a professional for 20+ years now. Started out as a Bartender post college, then a Crisis Counselor, a Case Manager, the Summer Programs Manager at Boston Ballet, a Teacher Certification Test Project Manager, and for the last few years, an office manager. I do everything to keep an office running. Book keeping, Web updating and maintenance, book formatting and publication, editing, travel arrangements, excuse making, fawning if needed. Also office cleaning. It’s a small business. Probably just like yours if you’re looking at my site.
